H P Lovecraft and Matt Drudge

Steve Huff makes the compelling case here on his blog that Matt Drudge is the reincarneted spirit of HP Lovecraft:

It's hard to argue with him, which makes me sad, because if ever two men were different, it's these two. Plus I totally hate Matt Drudge. Huff's thesis is that Lovecraft spen decades in the company of Cthulhu and other Great Old Ones, corrupting him.

I offer the counter hypothesis that perhaps Drudge is actually a clone of HP Lovecraft, created by Rubert Murdoch and Richard Mellon Scaife in the 1990's. They needed a source of pure horror, something that would strike at the sanity of modern man. Their R&D department told them Lovecraft was the father of modern horror, so they dug up his grave, got a DNA sample, and grew Drudge in a vat at a secret Newscorp facility.

The most terrifying thing of course is that there's more where this thing came from - a whole army of Lovecraft-clones in the wings, waiting for the mid-term elections...

Drudge (born 1966) is simply the reincarnation of Lovecraft (died 1937). There's no need for wild theories like cloning :-)
